Staff Council is so happy to welcome you to UCCS. In addition to the New Employee Onboarding resources you can find on the Office of Human Resources website, we've compiled some information we thought you'd like to know – including benefits you have access to and tips for getting involved on campus. You can also find this information in the Staff Council Welcome Handbook above.
Resources for New Staff
- The Employee Discount Marketplace: BenefitHub gives access to a huge variety of perks, discounts and coupons.
- The Employee and Dependent Tuition Benefit gives you or a dependent up to 9 free credits per academic year at UCCS or at any CU Campus. You may use up to 6 of the free credits for the year at Pikes Peak Community College.
- Get a 10% discount on food and drink at the Campus Store by mentioning you are UCCS staff. (This does not include textbooks.)
- Enjoy free admission to UCCS athletic events and discounted tickets to Theatreworks events.
- Access year-round children's education through the Family Development Center.
- The SEEDS program may grant you up to $200 a year for professional development. You can also access free learning and development opportunities offered through the CU System.
- Access the Kraemer Family Library and check out books for up to 90 days at a time, with rentals delivered to your office.
- Purchase Microsoft software at a discounted price through the Office of Information Technology.
- Communique is UCCS' official news publication. Use it to find breaking news, campus-wide announcements and stories on faculty, students, alumni and community members. Each Friday, faculty and staff receive the Communique newsletter compiling the week's stories.
- Make sure to follow @UCCS on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn for news, announcements and stories from around campus.
- Register for the campus emergency notification system, UCCSAlerts, to receive text message notifications of weather-related campus closures or any emergency situation which poses an imminent danger to the UCCS campus.
- RSVP to the Chancellor's monthly virtual Town Halls to learn about important news and updates. Invitations are emailed monthly.
- Pay attention to the emails that go to the staff-l email list. It might be beneficial to create a special folder in Outlook to keep yourself organized!
- Did you know there are many miles of hiking trails surrounding UCCS? Plan your next hike.
- Join the UCCS Pedal Perks program for incentives to bike to work.
- Purchase discounted memberships and guest passes for yourself, spouses, partners and dependent children for the Campus Recreation Center.
- Rent equipment, get your bike repaired, take clinics and go on excursion trips through S.O.L.E.
- All staff members have access to the Lane Center workout facility and clinics, including the primary Lane Clinic.
- Take free yoga on Wednesdays, hosted by the Counseling Center. Sign up to receive emails from registered yoga teacher Debbie Patz.
- Join one of the many volunteer committees on Staff Association to make a positive impact on UCCS – and beyond.
- Attend student productions offered through Theatreworks and UCCS athletic events.
- Get involved with the many sustainability initiatives offered at UCCS. You can take a tour of the Greenhouse and Sustainability Demonstration House, partner with a student to apply for Green Action Funds to enact a sustainable project on campus and more.
- Participate in faculty/staff games hosted by Campus Recreation or play an intramural sport.
- Volunteer to help maintain hiking trails, make UCCS more sustainable, produce food at the UCCS Farm, help out at the Kraemer Family Library and more. Please note that many of these opportunities are not currently possible due to COVID-19 public health guidance.
